Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballet Russes 1909- 1929

The Russian Ballet at this time could not be more different than the English- very colourful, warm colours and very sexy! They had fantasy based costumes and men dressed as animals! "Diaghilev a likable man, but awful." Eric Satie. Serge Pavlovich Diaghileff first ballet season was marked by the exotic designs of the Russian-born artist Leon Bakst. The costumes in this exhibition was truly fabulous, refreshing to see when the 'norm ballet' outfit is rather..conventional...

Trash Fashion - Designing out waste

Newspaper, Bio-plastic,nettle fibers, all new materials being used for Eco fashion. At the 'Trash Fashion' exhibition there is a whole world outside the cotton, wool, silk material brackets. 'Cotton is the thirstiest plant on the planet.' There was this one waist coat -bio culture- which was crafted out of sugary bio film which is produced by the microbes that fermate green tea. It grows like bacteria in to a material, very durable.

(FFF) Fairytale Fabulous Fashion

For many, fabulous fashion cuture, IS a fairytale. What if you could read this fairytail? Its not for children this time, but for the out crying fashion easter inside each and every woman. Yes, not every woman can afford fashion vogues. Instead we look at them. And now read about them. 'Christian lacroix and the Tale of Sleeping Beauty'. A new series of tales by Camilla Morton. To come are the fairytale histories of John Galliano, Manolo Blahnik and Diane von Furstenberg. For girls like me, where such icons are charaters in my fansty wardrobe, this series of books shines out as a sequel of tales i could really contect with.

Clothes for your feet...

This is 'a celebration of pumps, sandals, slippers and more'! Shoes are fabulous and should be celebrated more often. Well in our current time, they are, and by the dozen. Two of the largest (in size and fame) department stores in London have recently opened a heaven of shoes for the world to gore at. Selfridges and Co in Oxford street have their extravagant 'Shoe Gallery' which is not only the largest place in the WORLD to hold THAT many shoes, but also, in my eyes anyway, it is giving shoes a right of place. Fame. And beauty. Then Harrods joined on the WE LOVE SHOES band wagon and invented their 'Shoe Salon'. In the March 2011 Vogue, the 'Shoe Salon' is advertised by the most marvelous picture! An 'Exclusively at Harrods by Christian Louboutin' shoe embellished decadently and beautiful displayed in a glass case with butterflies. How shoes should always be displayed. All little girls grow up believing that Cinderellas glass slipper could transform there lives, and foot wear forever. Woman's early history, shoes were hidden, under all of their petticoats and crinolines. A crime. A pair of new shoes 'might not cure a broken heart or soothe a tension headache', writes fashion critic Holly Brubach, but they will relieve the symptoms and chase away the blues.' Even though, as i have been a victim of all of those things, a beautiful pair of shoes can help a world of sins.

Aware Art Fashion Identity- Royal Academy of Arts

The exhibition showed the artists involved motivations for consuming fashion by how they interpreted in their work, however, this is not 'peoples' views, just theirs. Clothing is a clear marker of individuality and demonstrates our way of life of the person wearing the garments. You can see peoples need to consume fashion everyday. Its a basic desire. Its the norm. This exhibition presented a group of contemporary artists, all putting there mark on consumption.

Yohji Yamamoto- Femme Collection, Autumn/Winter 1991-92

 My favourite piece was the 'dress' by Yoyji Yamamoto (above). He expresses that he does not like fashion and wants to regain respect for clothing and promote independence for woman. This dress above has wooden frame work-which suggests a human skeleton. It has architectural structure and a feel of armour. You could see it as some sort of corset- showing weakness at the same time, strength from the materials.

Then there was the time we went to Brixton...

I bought this fab dress from brixton market, it looks like a dress that Rachel from friends wore in the old ones! Blue/Green/Grey....thin straps...pearlescent buttons...waist tie.......outlines of flowers..dark green outlines..creamy yellow flowers..above knee when worn...slight a-line hem....£14!!!

Yummmm....anyone for a pig snout? Does anyone eat those? Hopefully they are just for dogs??!! Or for a sheep looking for a change..50p what a bargin! I should have bought a whole bunch!

I'm researching shoe designers, ones with fab drawings! So far i have Andy Warhol and, of course, Manolo Blahnik. Any other surgestions?
