Keys.....to the fashion show!

I now have 104 ceramic keys for my collar! I figured out that it takes me 7 and a half mintues to make one key, thats two every 15 mins, making 8 an hour. I made 50 yesterday. I made 8 today- i also knitted the yarn for my vest. I have the pattern piece for the vest so maybe i will start on that tonight?? Tomorrow Kim is going to help me paint the keys white then glaze them, then they will need to be fired again. I am trying to make as many keys as i can in the time i have. If i make 50 or more everyday- well that would be fantastic!

French for India...

I'm trying to learn french with 'French for Dummies'...i better go to Paris now! I've wannted to learn french for so long...i started to do it at GCSE but i gave up...i wannted to learn it here but its quite expensive, so french for dummies is the only way! Also my french house mate can help me! I really want to go to paris..then live there! Thats the dream....

Reconstruction....

A £3 wedding dress..old shirts...shrunken jumper..corset..humm what can you make out of that!? A coat from the wedding dress and shirt...a cute jumper which was also be wore as a skirt and another skirt! Such a fun day! Who knew wedding dresses could be so versatile!

Lee the Queen

Just watched a program about Alexander McQueen. Very sad. And wonderful. His life along with his 'founder' Isabella Blow. She was truly fabulous. Such a tragedy. It showed his first shows, and his last. How he shocked the world. His shows were art. His collections were staged like theatre. His models were actress. Beautiful and distorted in his designs. He is a queen. Its so sad how his talent was at his best when his mother and Isabel died. How can his talent carry on without him? No one could replace that type of imagination and originality.

Tate on a napkin...

I forgot my notebook so i had to write on a napkin as i was wondering around the Tate today! I mainly wanted to go today to see the new 'Watercolour' exhibition which opened today, which was mentioned in Vogue. Watercolours are 'in' by the way! The colours and hues are everywhere at the moment- in fashion and interiors, makes any piece romantic- i think anyway. In the tate had every type of painting you can do with watercolours, which, as it happens, a lot! Its not all romantic landscapes! "Colour was regarded as an addional tool for drawings and illustrastions.."

Unit 1- Introduction to Higher Education

My visual and textual research for my rough guide project, Brixton, was well observed, however i could have collected more. I struggled for the 'gallery' part of the study task as i did not have enough information. I took photos of the exhibition but did not take notes. When visited Brixton i drew from observation and also took photos. I feel the drawings have better notification of the area. Collecting memorabilia from and around Brixton helped my visual understanding. Exploring the area helped me with my knowledge and people who worked and lived in Brixton. My selected media for the final image was a mixture of photography and fabric swatches. I wanted to have some textiles in my project. I feel i have managed my time well in this unit, despite being ill a few times. However i need to be more prompt on updating my blog as soon as i have it written i my notebook. I have not done this for this unit, therefore only blogging once i remember about the event/ lecture/ visit.
